- hypothesisBased on its ability to reduce expression and activity of the matrix metalloproteinase 9 doxycycline has been proposed as a means of stabilizing abdominal aneurysms. Yet as progression of AAA is related to increased collagen turnover we hypothesized that the effects of doxycycline should extend beyond inhibition of MMP-9.
