- Brief summaryMany children get involved in road traffic accidents and have to be treated in a hospital. The exposure to such a traumatic event may lead to post traumatic stress symptoms. Evidence based treatments for children are needed to prevent long-term impairment. The main objectives of the present study are: determining short and long term effects of TF-CBT and EMDR; assessing the efficiency of these therapies; and identifying the characteristics of those children who do not respond to the given treatment.
In this study 150 children, age 8 to 18 years, who recently got injured in a road traffic accident and who were in need of emergency care will be included. There are four measurements: Pre-treatment, after treatment, 6 and 12 months follow-up.
