- Brief summaryThe aim of this study is making the work assessments of employees with a depression in the Netherlands more transparantly and more uniform by a specific implementation of the Protocol Depression. After a needs assessment and expert interviews, based on Intervention Mapping, the implementation of the Protocol Depression was complemented at points which are relevant for the practise of the insurance physicians. This complements concern appliances for using the Protocol Depression, performance indicators (PI's) to measure the quality of disability assessment reports and a specific training for insurance physicians. The effect of this specific implementation will be evaluated in an efficacy RCT. 42 insurance pyhsicians are randomised in a group of usual care (UC) and in a group of intervention care (IC). Both groups get the Protocol Depresion and general feedback about their performances. In addition the IC-group gets the developd appliances, specific feedback concerning their performance, and a specific training for applying the Protocol Depression. The UC-group gets a conventional training. In this trail the insurance physicians train their skills on assessing working disability of claimants with a depression by making reports of realistic cases played by actors on DVD. We will measure the quality of their reports and to what extend they follow the Protocol Depression. Primary outcome measures are: the quality of the medical disability assessments registerd in medical reports and protocol adherence of the insurance physicians, measured by performance indicators and questionnaires
