- InterventionsIn our previous research we have already implemented 4 interventions from the evidence based clinical nursing stroke guideline, in our nursing home. These interventions were focused on muscle strenghtening, sitting balance and reach, getting up from a chair and walking. We found out that the therapytime increased significantly. Please see previous publication. In our present research we want to investigate if the increased therapytime has an effect on cognition, rest—activity rhythm and level of depression and anxiety ( mood). Furthermore we will not implement new interventions. We compare this group with a controlgroup where care as usual is conducted based on the Dutch Stroke Guideline. These patients receive about on average 8 hours a week on rehabilitation.
- Primary outcomeWe want to study the effect of increased therapytime on cognition rest—activity rhythm and level of depression and anxiety ( mood).
- Secondary outcome1. Barthel index;
2. Medication;
3. Comorbidity.
- TimepointsWithin the first week of staying at the nursing home, patients who gave their informed consent will be tested by trained clinical neuropsychologists. They will assess patients'cognitive functioning , level of depression (mood) and rest-activity rhythm. The same variables will be assessed after 8 weeks.
