- Brief summaryHand injuries and conditions with hand-involvement have significant impact on costs of healthcare and costs of productivity loss. In the rehabilitation process after injuries or hand problems due to conditions, the field of health-care is moving towards client centered health care to create better adherence to treatment regimen, to establish better treatment outcomes, but also to create an affordable future health care system. Shared Decision making is a collaborative process that allows patients and their providers to make healthcare decisions together, taking into account the best scientific evidence available, as well as the patient's values and preferences. This study will explore how hand therapists describe their experiences in using shared decision making in current practice and will explore how these therapists describe their perspectives and needs regarding (further) implementation of shared decision making in their daily practice.
