- Scientific TitleCustomized rehabilitation by selfmonitoring the recovery after an orthopedic injury
- ACRONYMBring the patiŽnt back in his force
- hypothesisBy giving the patients more insight in their own rehabilitation progress by carrying out physical measurements and questionnaires , rehab will me more succesfull.
Rehabilitation will be more succesful when the patiŽnts are empowered by self-monitoring the rehalibitation progress.

- Primary outcomeWhich knowledge and skills do health care professionals and patients recovering from a ACL-reconstruction need in order to use a self-monitoring system in daily care?
- Secondary outcomeHow must a self-monitoring system be designed according to health care professionals, engineers/designers and patients (which measuring instruments, moments, which graphic interaction) and users trained in order to enable patients to independently collect and share a set of physical and psychological parameters? Outcome = design and development of self-monitoring system, manual, training module

How is the self-monitoring system used by health care professionals and patients recovering from a ACL-reconstruction in daily care and how is use related to recovery? Outcome = frequency and intensity of use and recovery time (level)

How do health care professionals and patients experience the self-monitoring system and what are the barriers and facilitators for use of the self-monitoring system during the rehabilitation process? Outome = experiences, barriers and facilitators.

- Brief summaryMany orthopedic injuries, like ACL-ruptures, fractures and arthrosis, require a long and intensive rehabilitation process after surgery. Health care professionals notice in daily care that patients do often not reach their former physical performance level despite intensive specialized care. In order to provide better care, health care professionals would like to gain more insight into individual recovery. By monitoring physical and psychological parameters intensively, they believe that therapy can be tailored and adjusted based on (un)desired changes during the recovery process more quickly. Having patients monitor their recovery intensively has two main advantages: Health care professionals can optimize their therapy and patients are more involved in their own recovery. Health care professionals can focus on the medical interpretation of the data which is the departure point for insight into individual recovery.
